Shoghl Eid (The Cultural Store)
Shoghl Eid Gallery (“Hand-Made” in English) is a unique project by Reflection for Arts, Training and Development, designed to connect independent creators directly with the public. Located in a street-facing shop, the gallery functions as a sustainable selling platform for artists, writers, and publishers. Through commission-based sales, Shoghl Eid supports creators while also contributing to the sustainability of Reflection for Arts’ wider initiatives.
The gallery showcases a diverse range of cultural works, including visual arts such as sculpture, painting, and graphic design; handicrafts including wearable accessories, kilims, and carpets; and printed and digital publications like books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs. All items are created by independent artists who own the intellectual property rights, ensuring originality, creativity, and high-quality craftsmanship.
Shoghl Eid aims to provide independent creators with visibility in the creative market, establish mutually beneficial financial relationships, and promote independent art within the community. It also serves as an announcement point for cultural events in Alexandria.
Through its objectives, Shoghl Eid generates sustainable financial returns, provides employment, encourages alternative artistic tastes, and strengthens public engagement with independent cultural production. More than a store, Shoghl Eid is a vibrant hub where creativity, commerce, and community meet, expanding the reach and impact of Alexandria’s independent arts scene.
